Text Box: Release date: April 2007 Image size: 14 inches x 18 inches Edition size: 30 Artist Proof Copies only SOLD OUT Text Box: Keeper's Finders 30 years 'Keeper's Finders' is not a typical, narrative Nigel Hemming image, more along the lines of 'Ready for Collection'. It's an image that, from its initial conception, to the completed picture, has gone through a number of significant changes. I had intended the picture to be in black and white, like 'Spring or Fall' - the feathers adding the splash of bright colour like the leaves in the former. But to put it simply, it didn't work! I then decided to colour the whole image and treat it as a more traditional piece - but, having done so, it still seemed to lack something. It was Sue who suggested the water in the background.What you see, however, is the third attempt. I had tried several alternative surfaces to the water before I settled on the finished work. All in all, 'Keeper's Finders' has proved a little testing. Nevertheless, I think that the finished image works well and I'm particularly pleased with the feathers - especially the one on the dog's nose. I've made the view point higher than usual - like 'Weather or Not'. In this way the observer is looking down upon the dogs, as it were, from the Keeper's perspective. Likewise, the dogs are looking directly back at the viewer so that a feeling of interaction and expectation is achieved - hopefully!! As part of my thirtieth anniversary year issue, there are only 30 Artist Proof copies  of this image.
