Mans Best Friend
Release date: September 2001
A single limited edition of 500 copies only
Image size: 490mm x 385mm
In 2000, I was approached by Roger Southern of St Johns Contemporary Art, Douglas, Isle of Man - with a proposition to create an image that would be synonymous with my work and, at the same time, incorporate something of his home, the Isle of Man. Mans Best Friend is the end result. Its setting is Niarbyl Bay, a well known beauty spot  on the west coast of the Island. The series one Land Rover is an island resident, as are the two Lab's - incidentally, the number plate is also genuine. One thing that everyone asks me who see the picture is why are there chickens on the beach. Simple! every time I've been there, there have been chickens on the beach. To not include them would have felt wrong.
A percentage of each sale will be donated to The Manx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, for the 1500 lost, injured, unwanted and abandoned animals and birds that the society helps each year.
