The early evening light of an autumnal sun, casts a warm glow on the scene, enhancing the truly golden coats from which the breed derives its name. Although I have produced a number of Golden Retriever images over the years, this is the first time I have painted true working dogs. Quite different in both stature and colour from the paler variety that seems to have gained in popularity over recent years. After all, I am known as a painter of working dogs!
